You still get some chatter from the antilock braking system - slower, bigger pulses but not as sharp. The stopping distances are decent but it's really the lack of noise and vibration that's impressive. Braking: Braking performance improves despite this new CR-V wearing the same-spec tires as the previous model. We turned traction control off, but that doesn't seem matter one way or another. If the transmission doesn't "shift," you'll know you've done it right. You don't want to hold the car on the brakes much at all, so come off the brake almost immediately after going full throttle. Our quick run was achieved in Sport drive mode powerbraking as little as possible. The previous CR-V Hybrid didn't allow for powerbraking, but it's necessary here to get the quickest time. ![]() For a CVT to optimize power delivery it'll rev to its engine rpm limit and hang out there without shifting. This, however, is not the quickest acceleration path. Honda improved the tuning of the continuously variable transmission (CVT) to make it feel more like a traditional automatic transmission, simulating upshifts in most case situations. 8.0 seconds to 60 mph isn't crazy slow it just isn't very fast.
